Oxford Landing Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz 2003 #16164

Weather conditions throughout the growing season and leading into the 2003 harvest were typically warm and dry. With February came enough rain to refresh the vines and the cooler conditions that followed, were perfect for fruit ripening and flavour development. Sandy soils of varying depth over limestone require careful irrigation management. Irrigation strategy and canopy management are adapted to suit each individual site in order to provide a good balance of light and shade in the canopy and hence maximise fruit quality. The wine was fermented under warm temperature conditions and careful selection of the Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz components was made to ensure the best complement of flavours and textures in the final blend. Oxford Landing Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz 2003 is deep purple red in colour with hints of ruby. The nose offers lifted aromas of blackberries and plums with hints of cedar and anise. Displaying the typical synergy of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, the palate is elegantly structured with layers of red berry fruit, plums and spice. The Shiraz adds flesh and sweetness to the mid palate while the Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure and the soft, fine tannins on the finish.
