Oxford Landing Shiraz #16141
Oxford Landing Shiraz

Oxford Landing recorded o of its coolest vintages ever in 2002, resulting in wines with concentrated flavour, colour and excellnt varietal definition.

Small parcels of fruit were selected from the oldest low-yielding blocks of Shiraz grown at Oxford Landing. The predominant soure of this fruit is 40 year old vines grown on a wide T trellis.

Oxford Landing Shiraz 2002 is a deep ruby red in colour with hints of magenta. On the nose white pepper and spice blend with cherry, plum and hints of vanilla. Ripe cherry and raspberry fruit flavours dominate the mid-palate, complemented by layers of vanillin oak, soft tannins and raspberry fruit flavours that linger on the finish. A great wine on its own or to complement a wide range of food.

Harvested: March-April 2002
Oak Treatment: Matured for approximately 6 months in American oak
Alc/Vol: 14%
Total Acid: 5.9 g/L
pH: 3.56

Press Reviews/Awards:
******************
From the 2001 vintage:
’This is the latest addition to Yalumba’s entry level Oxford Landing stable, and some of the fruit has come from low yielding 40-year-old Shiraz vines grown at Yalumba estate. Red/purple in colour, it shows aromas of toasty oak, stewed plums, mocha and cloves that are echoed on the palate. A nice juicy acidity and fine tannin grip clean up at the finish. The sum of this is a gluggable, medium-bodied wine that is extremely approachable and hard to beat on the value-or-money.’
