Yalumba Cabernet Sauvignon 2001 #16150
Yalumba Cabernet Sauvignon 2001

The 2002 vintage conditions were indeed exceptional. The weather remained mild and dry over a long and even ripening period, with the lowest average daily temperatures recorded. This resulted in wines of great colour and intensity, with excellent varietal flavour.

Deep cherry red in colour with hints of plum, the Yalumba Y Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2002 explodes with rich upfront fruit on the nose, intertwined with hints of tobacco leaf, spicy berries, currants and plums. The palate is vibrant, driven predominantly by sweet forest berry fruits with hints of mintiness. Generous and medium bodied with firm tannins on a lengthy fniish, a great wine to drink now or cellar for the medium of 2-5years.

Alc/Vol: 14%
Total Acid: 6.4 g/L
pH: 3.5
Cellaring:medium term (2-5 years)

Press Reviews/Awards
"87 points - It is nearly impossible to find a Cabernet Sauvignon that delivers the goods for under $20, but Yalumba’s 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Y Series does just that. Its deep ruby/purple color is accompanied by berry, tobacco, and black currant aromas. Medium-bodied, supple, and tasty, it will provide a lot of pleasure over the next 2-3 years."
Robert M. Parker Jr., The Wine Advocate, USA, 23 August 2003

SILVER MEDAL, Melbourne Wine Show 2003, Class 58
