Yalumba Riesling #16180
The Passion
The Yalumba Harvest Market is on of the most popular events of the Barossa Vintage Festival and is designed to celebrate the diversity and character of teh Barossa region through its food, wine and art. Winner of a Jaguar/Gourmet Traveller Award for Excellence, it is a tru labour of love for the Hill Smith Familly
The wild olive tree on the Yalumba Riesling label reflects the family’s long-held belief that with food wine there should also be good food - a belief reinforced by the regular cooking schools held at the winery. These are the simple pleasures in life that can be enjoyed everyday when shared in the company of family and friends.
The Winemaking
The 2002 vintage will be remembered as a text book vintage for white wines in South Australia. Well balanced crops were set in late Spring and the weather remained mild and dry over the long even ripening period resulting in very healthy vines that produced grapes of excellent quality.
Gentle processing of the grapes, using only the clearest free-run juice and following this up with a cool, even fermentation has resulted in a wine that is amazingly fresh in flavour.
The Yalumba Y Series Riesling 2002 is pale straw in colour and shows classic varietal character with an aroma of grapefruit and lemon peel with delicate floral overtones. The palate is lively and refreshing with generous citrus fruit flavours and a hint of ripe tropical fruits on the finish.

Alc/Vol: 12.5%
Total Acid: 6.2 g/L

Press Reviews/Awards
"87 points - Made from 100% Riesling, the elegant 2002 Riesling Y Series offers notes of mineral-laced citrus in its light-bodied, zesty personality. It, too, should be consumed over the next year."
Robert Parker Jr., The Wine Advocate, USA, 23 August 2003
