The Passion Throughout its history, Yalumba has been willing to take a risk and back its judgement on a new variety, a new style or a new direction, without losing sight of traditional strengths. Nowhere is this more evident than in the winery’s pioneering work in Australia with the rare and alluring Rhone grape variety, Viognier. The vine cuttings shown on the Yalumba Viognier label depict the Hill Smith family’s ability to think outside the square in the quest for quality. Such risk-taking and daring to make a difference has put Yalumba ahead of the resin the ever chaning world of wine. The Winemaking Pale gold with green hues, Yalumba Y Series Viognier 2003 offers intense aromas of white flowers and honeysuckle, with hints of spice and musk. The palate is very long and ripe, with citrus and tropical fruit flavours. This wine exhibits the typical Viognier texture - silky, rich and luscious - which offers great drinking now, and with careful cellaring it will continue to show generous Viognier flavours and textures for at least 2-3 years.
